Assistant Professor (full time, 6 years, with tenure-track option), Department of Political Science and Digital Science Center, starting on 1st of December 2023. Main tasks:

• conducting original research in the field of Computational Political Science with a focus on big data (e.g. text data, image data, video data, social media data, or geolocation data);
• employing innovative methods (such as network analysis, machine learning, natural language processing, or text mining) and/or developing new methods;
• participating in the activities of the Digital Science Center (DiSC) and other research areas and research centers of the University of Innsbruck, in particular the research area “Economy, Politics, and Society (EPoS)”;
• teaching courses on Computational Political Science in the BA, MA, and PhD programs in Political Science at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences as well as in the Digital Science Center program and in other study programs at the University of Innsbruck;
• teaching and supervising theses;
• participating in (inter)national professional networks in political science (e.g. ÖGPW, ECPR, EPSA);
• contributing to academic administration.

The Hannah Arendt Institute for Totalitarianism Studies e.V. (HAIT) is currently welcoming applications for a postdoctoral research position (100%), starting July 1, 2023. The position is part of the research groupREXKLIMA. The employment contract will be signed on a temporary basis (until December 31, 2027). Staffing will take place in accordance with the German Law for temporary contracts (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetzes § 1 Abs. 1 i.V. m. § 2 Abs. 2) and the collective agreement for public service in Saxony (salary class: TV-L, level E 13).

The research group REXKLIMA (Far-right politics versus climate action? Nationalist opposition in a transnational political field) is led by Dr. Manès Weisskircher and based at the Institute of Political Science, TU Dresden, and at the Hannah Arendt Institute for Totalitarianism Studies. It is funded by Germany’s Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) from 2023 to 2027. The Hannah Arendt Institute for Totalitarianism Studies (HAIT) is a research center, financed by the State of Saxony, associated with the Technical University of Dresden and headed by Prof. Dr. Thomas Lindenberger. The HAIT currently employs 12 researchers and 8 members of staff. The HAIT is located on the TU Dresden campus.

Preferred qualifications are:

• a PhD degree in the field of political science, sociology, communication sciences, or a related discipline,
• relevant publications (e.g., in peer-reviewed journals),
• excellent knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative analysis methods (in particular for data collection and analysis of party positions and/or social media communication),
• project experience and (inter-)national networks,
• the ability to work both in a team and independently,
• very good English (required) and good knowledge of German (preferred).

The substantive focus of work corresponds to the research focus of REXKLIMA: Empirical-analytical research on far-right politics in the context of the political conflict over global warming that links to debates on ideology, framing, mobilization, and impact. Research is based on qualitative and quantitative data. Publications in peer-reviewed journals are an essential part of the project’s publication strategy.

Your tasks include:

• Writing of scientific publications,
• conceptualizing and coordination of data collection and analysis,
• contributing to the coordination and the development of the research group,
• contribution to project reports and policy briefs,
• presenting project results at scientific workshops and conferences,
• coordination of events (e.g., scientific workshops).

The Vienna School of International Studies (Diplomatische Akademie Wien) is a professional school dedicated to research and teaching excellence. Two of the Academy’s four graduate programmes are offered jointly with the University of Vienna: The Master of Advanced International Studies and the Doctorate in Interdisciplinary International Studies.
 
The University of Vienna and the Vienna School of International Studies seek to appoint a University Professor of European Studies (full-time, permanent position).
 
Candidates with research specialisations within the field of EU Foreign and Security Policy are invited to apply. In terms of teaching, the successful candidate is expected to be able to cover the full breadth of theoretical and methodological approaches in EU Foreign and Security Policy. Successful candidates should have the following qualifications:

• Doctoral degree/PhD and post-doctoral experience at a university or other research institution
• Habilitation (venia docendi) in a subject field relevant to this position or an internationally accepted equivalent qualification
• Outstanding achievements in research, excellent publication record and international reputation in EU Foreign and Security Policy
• A demonstrated ability to procuring and managing large research projects, as well as the willingness and ability to lead research groups
• Enthusiasm for excellent teaching, teaching experience at universities as well as the ability and willingness to teach students in all phases of their studies (bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral level), to supervise academic theses and promote young academic colleagues
• Expertise on the EU’s foreign policy towards a particular world region would be desirable
• The main language of instruction at the Academy is English. Successful candidate is expected to acquire, within three years, proficiency in German sufficient for teaching and for participation in committees.

The Institute for International Political Economy at the Vienna University of Economics and Business is looking for a Teaching and Research Associate (Pre-Doc). The position is advertised for a working time of 30 hours/week and is to be filled from 1st March, 2023, limited to a period of 6 (six) years.
 
What to expect:

• Development of a PhD project in the field of International Political Economy (specifically in the areas of trade, FDI, sovereign debt, banks, stock markets, etc.) under the supervision of Prof. Jonas Bunte
• Participation in the English-taught PhD program at the Department of Socioeconomics
• Writing of a dissertation
• Participation in research projects and support of publication activities of the Institute. 

Requirements for interested candidates include a Master's degree with a focus on social sciences (preferably economics or political science) and qualifications in collecting, processing and analysing large data sets (preferably with "Stata" or "R").
